Aromas of dark berries, plums, cassis, iron and a hint of cocoa powder savoriness. Medium-bodied with well-packed flavors and fine, dusty tannins carrying the fruit to a long but pristine finish. There is still nice fluidity at the end, making it very poised and drinkable now, but it should develop more complexity with age. Drink or hold.

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are renowned for their acidity and astringency, strong fruit and spice flavors and full body, Merlot grapes are notably rounded, soft, fleshy and lighter on tannin. The combination of these two varietals, along with a small percentage of (commonly) Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc, is the perfect balancing act â€“ the two grape varietals cancel out each others weaker points, and accentuate all that is good about the other.

Aromatic and punchy, with tons of energy, the 2023 dazzles with its tension and energy. Readers will find a decidedly exotic, heady Pomerol with tons of structure.

A classic, balanced Pomerol from a tiny parcel in the heart of this magical appellation, the 2023 Clos L'Eglise sports a deep ruby/purple hue as well as beautiful aromatics of ripe red and black fruits, smoke, tobacco, chocolate, and graphite. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel and polished tannins. This is a classic, balanced Pomerol from this family that will keep for 25 years. Drink 2026-2048.

94-95 2023 Clos l’Eglise is a deep and velvety wine, finely textured with notes of cacao and chocolate. The strong fruit is impressive, vibrant and intense but also round and pleasing at the same time. This wine will no doubt benefit from 4-5 years cellaring before being approached but the impressive state of it now promises well for its future development.
