Dried bitter herbs, ash, pine, grilled grapefruit, dark berries and a touch of tobacco on the nose. Almost full-bodied with a beautiful texture and close-knit tannins. Lush in texture and very seductive, with restraint and concentration. A lot to love about this. Drink or hold.

This red is really perfumed, offering sandalwood, tomato leaf, licorice, ripe cherry and game aromas and flavors. Intense, building nicely through the midpalate to the long, sinewy finish. There’s a lot going on, but this needs time to knit together. Best from 2029 through 2048.

The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Richemone is one of the fuller-bodied wines in the range, exhibiting a brooding profile. It soars from the glass with aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, bitter orange, dark cherry and dried herbs. Full-bodied, fleshy and dense, it possesses a rich mid-palate framed by firm structuring tannins and concludes with a long, gently oak-inflected finish. The wine originates from a 0.9-hectare parcel of old vines on the Vosne-Romanée side of the appellation. While the majority of the vines are around 70 years old, the oldest plantings—representing approximately 20% of the surface area—date back to 1923. It was vinified with 50% whole clusters.
