Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

This site can often produce wines that only show their full potential at the end of élevage, and it certainly seems that I somewhat underestimated the potential of Dujac’s 2020 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts from barrel, as it showed even better from bottle. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cassis and plums mingled with notions of sweet spices and vine smoke, it’s medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with huge depth at the core, powdery tannins and a long, resonant finish. While this remains a somewhat reserved wine, its potential quality is much easier to grasp.

The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru has a very intense bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and touches of iodine, a little pressed violet emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy tannins, real depth and grip, one of the most opulent ‘20s from Dujac, though I wager that the Beaux Monts has a little more precision at this stage. But still, this is a long-term proposition.

A dense, almost creamy, concentrated cassis fruit, adorned with notes of smoke, spice and salt. Focused, with plenty of tannin and extract, this is a wonderful wine. 2020 saw tiny yields from Dujac's 1.55ha in Malconsorts - no more than 10-15 hl/ha. The fruit was partially destemmed and fermented slowly prior to ageing. The wine gets the same 16 months in 70% new casks that the grand crus receive.

Burghound
This is the first wine to show any appreciable reduction though the whole cluster vinification does peek through the funk. Once again, the bigger-bodied and much more muscular flavors possess a highly attractive texture thanks to the generous dry extract that partially buffers the prominent tannic spine supporting the robust, powerful and gorgeously complex and persistent finish. This is a classic Malconsorts which is very much built to reward longer-term cellaring.
