A notably spicy and attractively floral-suffused nose features notes of plum, rose petal, violets and ripe red currants. There is a seductive texture to the openly rich and generously proportioned flavors that retain a lovely sense of vibrancy on the lightly mineral-inflected finish that delivers both fine depth and length. Medium red. Reticent but pure aromas of redcurrant, earth, dried flowers, tobacco and smoked meat. Concentrated, savory and firmly built; noteworthy energy gives this very young wine a distinctly sappy character. Finishes fine-grained, dry and long, with the extract to support its ripe tannins. This will go truffley and earthy with six or seven years in the bottle.
