This wine is already well balanced. Ripe strawberries and red cherries are shot through with the acidity of the vintage. The tannins are present, complementing the already attractive fruits. The aftertaste shows the considerable potential with its tannins. Drink from 2020. (Cellar Selection)

92-94 A background but not invisible application of wood easily allows the cool and pure essence of red and dark berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced by almost pungent earth, animale, humus and underbrush nuances to shine. There is terrific punch and muscularity to the big-bodied, intense and mineral-driven flavors that display excellent delineation on the beautifully complex and hugely long finale. This is a very serious and built-to-age effort that will require plenty of patience before it reaches its peak. (Burghound)

Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Faiveley's 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers felt a little diffuse on the nose compared to its peers. But it melds together with aeration, offering pretty dark plum and raspberry scents, later pressed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grip and structure, a little rough round the edges but well balanced, although the finish just needs more flesh and body since it seems to attenuate, ossify a little, and it leaves you wanting more. Tasted September 2017.

Bright medium red. Subdued, slightly medicinal scents of cherry, raspberry, licorice, black pepper and wild herbs, complicated by spices and a hint of leather. Tight and taut, with rather ungiving cherry, menthol and crushed stone flavors in need of time in bottle to relax and unwind. Not a fleshy or sweet style--in fact a bit dusty today--and in need of patience. Finishes with slightly dry-edged, firm tannins and lingering spiciness. Will this rather cool premier cru expand with time in the cellar?

Deep ruby red hue with an intense and complex nose characterised by red fruits, toast and subtle roasted notes. The palate is rich and round with a firm structure and direct tannins. This remarkably powerful wine offers a silky mouthfeel and exceptional length. Serve with: Duck breast with blackcurrant, rabbit and prune stew.
