Poissenot is a comparatively unknown Gevrey Premier Cru, as only five producers make it. But this is well worth tracking down, especially in hot vintages, as it’s one of the coolest sites in the village. This is showing its oak at little at the moment, but the underlying wine is racy, sweet and well-balanced, driven by freshness, zip and acidity. Drinking Window 2022 – 2030.

More subtle though hardly discreet wood can be found on the airier and cooler nose of pretty and elegant essence of red currant, violet, plum and soft forest floor nuances. The sleek, delicious and beautifully well-detailed medium weight flavors possess slightly better intensity that carries over to the youthfully austere, balanced and lingering finish that exhibits better overall energy. This should drink well after only a few years of bottle aging.
