The Rhone Valley of southern France is a particularly fascinating wine region, with a history that stretches back to at least six hundred BCE, when the ancient Greeks first began cultivating vines there. The region itself is split into two distinct sub-regions, with the northern sub-region being famed for its production of exceptional Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier wines, packed full of interesting character and expressing the terroir found there. The southern sub-region is home to an enormous variety of grapes, and produces red, white and rosé wines, and some of the world's most famous and adored blended wines. This rich, luscious white oozes peach and apricot on a supple frame, all reined in by bitter citrus pith and tangerine peel. A firming swath of chalky mineral notes drives the balanced finish, with dried herb details. Savory and balanced, with a salty, racy edge. Very good. Drink now. 450 cases made, 100 cases imported.

Winery Notes

Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Roussane, from vines of an average age of 20 years, planted on sandy and clay slopes with northern exposure. Each variety is vinified separately. Direct pneumatic press, with a slow, cool fermentation in themo-regulated tanks for 3 to 5 weeks. The wine is then transferred to another tank and aged on fine lies for 3 to 4 months.
