The 2020 Lacima blends 73% Mencía with 27% other reds from seven sites across Bibei, Mendoia, and Val de Rodrigo. Made from 19 wines aged in barrels and foudres, it represents the essence of Val do Bibei. Compact and ripe, its tannins and oak integrate seamlessly. Slightly more mature than the others, it offers clear flavors, a smooth texture, and some oak grip. The 2020 is a Ribeira Sacra red with depth and length.

Today, the region is being celebrated for its superb and flavorful blended white wines, made from native grape varietals such as Albarino and Caino Blanca, and is continuing to rebuild itself and regain former glories.

Enology and Viticulture: Sara Perez and Rene Barbier. Production: 125 cases produced Vineyards: The vineyards consist of old vines of more than 50 years, planted in fragmented slate soil with excellent drainage capacity. The vineyards are located at an altitude of between 300 and 610 meters. Vineyard orientation is to the south and west. â€¢ Plantation density: 3300 vines per hectare. â€¢ Training system: Goblet â€¢ Production: 400-600 grams (average 1/2 kilo) per vine. â€¢ Grape variety: Mencia 2020 Vintage: The high temperatures, of historic proportions, caused a stop in the plant growth during the month of August. The scarce rainfall marked the harvest, and slowed the development of the vine, giving a more concentrated must and lower yields than average. The overall health of the grapes at the time of harvest was very good. Vinification: Harvest was conducted by hand using 10 kilo cases. A long period of picking the grapes started on the 17th of September and finished on the 10th of October.
