Rhone Valley

The Rhone Valley of southern France is a particularly fascinating wine region, with a history that stretches back to at least six hundred BCE, when the ancient Greeks first began cultivating vines there. The region itself is split into two distinct sub-regions, with the northern sub-region being famed for its production of exceptional Syrah, Marsanne, Roussane and Viognier wines, packed full of interesting character and expressing the terroir found there. The southern sub-region is home to an enormous variety of grapes, and produces red, white and rosé wines, and some of the world's most famous and adored blended wines. The continental climate of the region is ideal for growing grapes, and the winds which blow from the Central Massif help temper the heat in the vineyards, leading to very ripe fruits holding plenty of flavor.

Vivid with crunchy fruits at the center and a well-rounded character at the edges. 100% syrah, precise and energetic. Focused finish with peppery notes. Drink or hold.

Juicy and expansive on the palate, offering spice-laced black and blue fruit preserve, candied violet and star anise flavors that deepen through the back half. Finishes very long and youthfully tannic, with the mineral and spice notes resonating. 20% whole clusters.

Black raspberries, flowery incense, violets, and spicy nuances all emerge from the 2021 Côte Rôtie, a medium-bodied, supple, layered, seamless 2021 that has ripe tannins and a great finish. It's about as sexy and textured as they come in the vintage and is well worth seeking out. It's going to evolve nicely for 10-12 years or so.

Winery Notes

Intense and deep ruby with violet hues. Intense and expressive on the nose with peppery notes, violet aromas, and ripe black fruits. Powerful in its youth, this wine is full, supple and well-balanced with firm, silky tannins that lead to an elegant, beautiful finish. Delicious with beef rib and savory lamb dishes.. Aging potential of fifteen to twenty years.
