Produced from purchased fruit and a parcel in the village next to the cemetery. The nose is bright and pure, with lovely floral notes, while the palate is rich and structured, but not as silky as the producer’s Chambolle. The grapes were macerated in their concrete tanks and fermented on ambient yeasts, with 30% whole clusters, before ageing in 20% new oak casks.

89-91 A more deeply pitched nose speaks of poached plum, black raspberry, newly turned earth and a whiff of wood toast. While the middle weight flavors are not quite as dense, they do possess both excellent energy and definition, all wrapped in a mildly austere and rustic finish that exhibits very good depth and persistence. Once again, this is a quality villages and worth considering.
