Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Of all the white wine grape varietals, surely the one that has spread the furthest and is most widely appreciated is Chardonnay. This green-skinned grape is now grown all over the Old and New Worlds, from New Zealand to the Americas, from England to Chile, and is one of the first varietals people think of when considering white wine grapes. Perhaps this is because of its huge popularity, which reached a peak in the 1990s, thanks to new technologies combining with traditional methods to bring the very best features out of the Chardonnay grape and allow its unique qualities to shine through. Most fine Chardonnay wines use a process known as malolactic fermentation, wherein the malic acids in the grape juice are converted to lactic acids, allowing a creamier, buttery nature to come forward in the wine. The beautifully and unforgettable French region of Cote De Beaune has been revered throughout the centuries, and recognized as one of the key producer's of the world's finest white wines. The region is highly respected as an excellent producer of Chardonnay wines, and the Chardonnay grapes which grow there, on the southern slopes of the Cote d'Or, are packed full of the unique and powerful characteristics of this very special terroir. Interestingly, Cote De Beaune produces more red wine than white wine, despite its white wines being so famous. The red wines of Cote De Beaune are mainly made from Pinot Noir, but are relatively very light and fruity in their character, perfect for sipping on a warm, sunny day alongside a wide range of foods.

The 2014 Montrachet Grand Cru (which incidentally Jacques was thinking about two cuvées from his two parcels) has a refined bouquet with lovely yellow flower and mineral scents that unfurl from the glass. This shows its class. The palate is very well balanced with a keen thread of acidity, hints of white peach and citrus lemon, very harmonious with an almost understated finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a very classy Montrachet.

Slightly cloudy pale yellow. More iodiney and closed on the nose than the 2015 version, offering citrus and menthol aromas. Then taut, saline and very dry in the mouth, displaying terrific lemony grip and a slight phenolic bitterness. Not as inviting in the early going as the Chevalier-Montrachet, this powerful expression of terroir has the texture and tannins of a red wine and will need extended cellaring. The yield here was 32 hectoliters per hectare, according to owner Edouard Labruyère (Vinous)

Here too the nose is presently dominated by reduction and wood though the fruit does seem ripe. By contrast there is solid vivacity to the big-bodied but not massive flavors that deliver impressive length on the harmonious and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is not a super powerful Montrachet but I very much like the way the intensity builds from the mid-palate on back to the explosive finale. In sum this is a Montrachet of restraint, at least at present.
Winery Notes
Luminous green gold with scintillating silver reflections. Refined and complex but still very discrete on the nose. Very consistent and powerful, embracing the palate with its incredible richness. An infinite length on the finish along with a beautiful sapidity.
