Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

98-99 About to be bottled when I tasted it, the 2011 Château Chalon has a smoky, flinty, whisky-like character that is subtle and elegant. 2011 was a cool year with good weather during the harvest, delivering healthy grapes and a good crop that produced quality and quantity. Macle compared it with 2008, a year with good acidity, but 2011 is probably a bit rounder. The wine comes through as balanced and mineral. A second barrel had a stronger yeast character, with more aromas of bread dough, a little peaty and a little more powerful on the palate. This should make a great bottle of Château Chalon; it’s quite classic and has a long life ahead of it in bottle. There are 8,000 bottles of this, bottled in two different lots.
Savagnin is a rare, ancient white grape variety primarily cultivated in France’s Jura region, where it is best known for producing Vin Jaune (Yellow Wine). It is genetically linked to Traminer, making it a close relative of Gewürztraminer, though it expresses itself quite differently. Thriving in Jura’s cool climate and limestone-rich soils, Savagnin develops high acidity and a strong mineral backbone, making it well-suited for both oxidative and non-oxidative winemaking.
What makes Savagnin truly unique is its role in Vin Jaune, an iconic wine aged for at least six years and three months in oak barrels under a layer of yeast (voile), similar to Sherry but without fortification. This aging method imparts intense nutty, curry spice, and dried fruit aromas, with remarkable complexity.
In fresher styles, Savagnin exhibits citrus, green apple, floral, and mineral notes. It pairs exceptionally well with Comté cheese, rich poultry dishes, and mushroom-based cuisine, offering a truly distinctive drinking experience.
