Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Of all the white wine grape varietals, surely the one that has spread the furthest and is most widely appreciated is Chardonnay. This green-skinned grape is now grown all over the Old and New Worlds, from New Zealand to the Americas, from England to Chile, and is one of the first varietals people think of when considering white wine grapes. Perhaps this is because of its huge popularity, which reached a peak in the 1990s, thanks to new technologies combining with traditional methods to bring the very best features out of the Chardonnay grape and allow its unique qualities to shine through. Most fine Chardonnay wines use a process known as malolactic fermentation, wherein the malic acids in the grape juice are converted to lactic acids, allowing a creamier, buttery nature to come forward in the wine. No grape varietal is better suited to this process than Chardonnay, which manages to balance these silky, creamy notes with fresh white fruit flavors beautifully.

Always a highlight in the Drouhin portfolio, the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is showing brilliantly in bottle. Unwinding in the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, citrus zest, blanched almonds, pastry cream and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with racy acids and a long, chalky finish. This is one of the most intense, tightly wound renditions of this cuvée in recent years.

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Morget ler Cru (Marquis de Laguiche), which went through complete malo, has an almost feisty bouquet of lemongrass-tinged tropical fruit that sports just a tiny reduction. The palate is very well balanced, and a striking line of acidity imparts great tension. Quite complex on the finish, this offers appealing ginger and apricot notes on the aftertaste, plus the sapidity to encourage you back for another sip. Excellent.

Notes of petrol and rosemary oil add breadth to the ripe and softly exotic white peach scents. There is good verve to the relatively refined medium-bodied flavors that flash terrific persistence on the balanced finale. This will need to develop better depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range, but it appears to have the potential to do just that.

There is a lovely balance of ripe apple and lemon peel of great purity on the nose, and on the palate an exquisite balance between freshness and rich extract, leading to a rewardingly lingering finish. Produced from the 2.26ha holdings of the Marquis de Laguiche, using a selection of the best four parcels in this vintage.
Winery Notes
This is a wonderful occasion to savour a great wine. Admirable light golden colour. Intense and elegant aromas come to the fore: hawthorn, apricot notes, evolving towards hints of blond tobacco. As the wine ages, there are nuances of dried fruit and rare spices. A silky texture and a subtle touch of tannin give a true personality to the wine. Remarkable aftertaste. A great white Burgundy!
