91-94 Soft wood sets off the cool, pretty and elegant aromas of honeysuckle, white orchard fruit and abundant spice and wet stone nuances. The surprisingly rich and caressing medium weight flavors possess a highly seductive mid-palate mouthfeel before terminating in mineral-driven, youthfully austere and impressively long finale. This classy effort is excellent with the development potential to match.

Varietal

Chardonnay

Of all the white wine grape varietals, surely the one that has spread the furthest and is most widely appreciated is Chardonnay. This green-skinned grape is now grown all over the Old and New Worlds, from New Zealand to the Americas, from England to Chile, and is one of the first varietals people think of when considering white wine grapes. Perhaps this is because of its huge popularity, which reached a peak in the 1990s, thanks to new technologies combining with traditional methods to bring the very best features out of the Chardonnay grape and allow its unique qualities to shine through. Most fine Chardonnay wines use a process known as malolactic fermentation, wherein the malic acids in the grape juice are converted to lactic acids, allowing a creamier, buttery nature to come forward in the wine. No grape varietal is better suited to this process than Chardonnay, which manages to balance these silky, creamy notes with fresh white fruit flavors beautifully.

Appellation

Cote De Beaune

The beautifully and unforgettable French region of Cote De Beaune has been revered throughout the centuries, and recognized as one of the key producer's of the world's finest white wines. The region is highly respected as an excellent producer of Chardonnay wines, and the Chardonnay grapes which grow there, on the southern slopes of the Cote d'Or, are packed full of the unique and powerful characteristics of this very special terroir. Interestingly, Cote De Beaune produces more red wine than white wine, despite its white wines being so famous. The red wines of Cote De Beaune are mainly made from Pinot Noir, but are relatively very light and fruity in their character, perfect for sipping on a warm, sunny day alongside a wide range of foods.

Wine Advocate

91-93 The 2023 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières opens in the glass with aromas of pear and sweet citrus oil mingled with toasted nuts and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chalky, with lively acids and a long, saline finish, it's a strong effort.

Winery Notes

A complex and generous wine, with a rare elegance. The colour is extraordinarily luminous. On the nose, a palette of interesting and varied aromas: syrup, grilled almond, preserved fruit. In the mouth, a silky and ample texture which does not exclude freshness or lightness. Long on the palate, with flavours recalling grilled bread and fruit jam. Always a consummate example of a white Burgundy, this wine is perfection!
