It offers an expressive aromatic profile of toasted sesame, mandarin oil, warm spices, walnut and red apples. The palate is full-bodied and broad-shouldered, with appreciable concentration and texture, lifted by ripe yet vibrant acidity and a pillowy mousse, concluding with a resonant, perfumed finish, bearing the subtle patina of its élevage in oak (25% new, primarily from François Frères, Cavin and Tonnellerie de Champagne). “I remember putting grapes into the press and comparatively little juice coming out—it was very concentrated,” recalls Pierric Brochet, describing this rich and patinated cuvée. It serves as a compelling introduction to the producer’s style and, like the rest of his wines, is best enjoyed on the young side.
