Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.

Very honeyed and exotic, with incredible depth of mango aromas plus more subtle touches of candied oranges and hard caramel. So concentrated and precise, with as much vitality as density on the full-bodied but energetic palate. This is just beginning to enter the zone that is entirely its own. What amazing energy in the extremely long finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Alsace has to be one of the most fascinating regions of France, with a history which stretches back millennia, and demonstrates perfectly the kind of blended culture that can arise from being located on the border between two enormously important, yet very different countries. Indeed, being on the border between France and Germany has resulted in Alsatian wines being something of a mix between the wines of these two countries. Riesling varietal grapes are grown in enormous quantities here, and display all of their crisp, dry complexity perfectly in the famous wines of Alsace. Alongside this typically Germanic wine, Alsatian vintners also produce plenty of Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Sauvignon Vert wines, all of which are superb when it comes to expressing the finer features of the wonderful Alsatian terroir.

The golden-colored 2020 Grand Cru Altenberg is clear, deep, elegant and cocoa-ish on the lemony-scented nose. Generous but elegant and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, complex and finely tannic as well as saline Altenberg with a long, sweet, saline and lemony finish that again shows melting dark chocolate and minty and lemon/orange bitters. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024.
Winery Notes
Autumn-colored, amber, thick robe. Spectacular nose of tropical fruits, candied lemon, acacia honey, with the elegance and lightness that is so characteristic of Altenberg. The palate is vibrant, creamy, rich yet with balanced acid, where all components come together perfectly. Varieties and clay, grower and limestone, fruit and pink sandstone, vintage and depth.
