Albana

Albana is a white grape variety native to Italy, particularly associated with the Emilia-Romagna region, where it is used to produce both dry and sweet wines. Albana wines are known for their full body, golden color, and rich flavors. Dry Albana wines typically exhibit aromas of ripe fruits such as peach and apricot, along with floral notes and hints of almond. They are characterized by their crisp acidity and mineral complexity, making them suitable for aging. Sweet Albana wines, particularly those produced in the passito style, showcase dried fruit flavors such as fig and honey, with a luscious texture and lingering finish. What makes Albana unique is its status as Italy's first white grape variety to receive DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) status for its passito wines.
