The 2019 is a different cuvee and another world. It’s 34% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and 66% Chardonnay from Chouilly (Mont Aigu); the black fruit is much chunkier than in the ’02; it’s a stylish but fun Champagne, all too easy to gulp but with admirable interplay and complexity in a rich mouth-filling style.
