Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Brought up all in new American oak, this brilliant effort is another tour de force from this producer that has massive notes of crème de cassis, lead pencil, vanilla bean, white chocolate, and hints of mint all soaring from the glass. Inky colored, full-bodied, and with a flamboyant, opulent mouthfeel, it opens up beautifully with time in the glass and didn’t show a hint of oxidation or tiredness during the three days I followed the bottle. Aussi Cabernet Sauvignon, or Cabernet Sauvignon for that matter, doesn’t get much better. Drink this magical effort anytime over the coming 2-3 decades.
By far and away the most recognized and widely grown red wine grape varietal in the world is the Cabernet Sauvignon. First cultivated in the 18th century in France, this wonderful cross of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes has long since been the most important varietal for red wines across the globe. Now grown everywhere from its native France to the furthest reaches of the New World, Cabernet Sauvignon is adored and prized by wineries for its hardiness and resistance to rot, as well as its large and sharp flavors and wonderful capability for fine aging Indeed, many of the finest wines of history and the modern age would be simply unimaginable without Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with the famed wineries of Bordeaux and other important regions using it as the primary grape in their oak aged produce. High tannin levels, acidity and powerful flavors are the characteristics most commonly associated with this varietal, however, when blended and slowly aged, it is capable of a world of flavors and aromas unmatched by any other grape.

Australia
Whilst most of Australia consists of arid deserts and dense bushland, the oceanic coasts to the south of the country have a terrain and climate ideal for vine cultivation and wine production. It took several decades of failed attempts at the end of the 18th century in order to produce vines of a decent enough quality for making wine, but since those first false starts, the Australian wine industry has continued to grow and grow. Today, wine production makes up for a considerable part of the Australian economy, with exports in recent years reaching unprecedented levels and even overtaking France for the first time ever. Whilst the greatest successes in regards to quality have been the result of the Syrah grape varietal (known locally as Shiraz), Australia utilizes several Old World grapes, and has had fantastic results from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay and more. As the Australian passion for locally produced wine continues to develop, wineries have begun experimenting with a wider range of grape varietals, meaning that nowadays it isn't uncommon to find high quality Australian wines made from Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Viognier, amongst many others.

South Australia
The vast region of South Australia is home to a wide variety of vineyards, growing a large range of different grape varietals. Because the South Australian wine region is so large, it benefits from a great array of climatic conditions – from dry and hot, to cool and windy – which wineries can use to their advantage when it comes to selecting the grape varietal they wish to thrive in a particular sub-region. South Australia is most commonly associated with the big, powerful and fruit-forward Shiraz wines which are produced in the cooler valley areas of the region, but recent decades have seen something of an explosion in the South Australian wine industry, leading to wineries expanding their repertoire enormously and experimenting with other fine grape varietals and making the most of their unique terroir.

This year, it's close to 40% each from Coonawarra and McLaren Vale, with smaller proportions from Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills. It's full-bodied and rich, with a velvety mouthfeel, great intensity and super length. Yes, it's embryonic, but it's not unapproachable, much like any other high-quality New World Cabernet these days, with the ability to age for two decades or more.

The scents of Indian ink and vivid, new American oak take center stage, followed by redcurrant, blackcurrant and meaty aromas, as well as a sanguine, iodine edge. The palate confirms the sense that this needs a good rest. Deep and dense, the attractively chewy tannins are draped in rich, ripe blackberry and blackcurrant flavors. This is a vibrant wine, with significant tannin layering that needs to rest a little. Coonawarra, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Adelaide Hills fruit sourcing. 20 months in new American-oak hogsheads. Saturated ruby. Expansive, smoke-tinged aromas of ripe red and blue fruit liqueur, candied flowers, sandalwood, coconut and pipe tobacco show superb definition and spicy lift. Stains the palate with alluringly sweet cherry-cola, blackcurrant jam, mocha, vanilla and fruitcake flavors that show noteworthy depth as well as energy. A minerally nuance appears with air and drives an extremely long, gently tannic finish that echoes the cherry and floral notes.

Matured as ever in 100% new American oak, this classic Penfolds Cabernet hails from Coonawarra, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills, with a component of the famous old vine Block 42 for pedigree. It’s typically rich and smoky on the nose, with a lovely dense texture and spiciness on the palate, spliced with chocolatey and crème de cassis richness and underpinned by an iron fist of as yet muscular, tight tannins which suggest serious potential for ageing. This wine could only be Australian, but that’s no bad thing. Drink with a retro roast duck à l’orange.
