The 2016 Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes comprises nine barrels this year, five barrels of village cru and four barrels of premier cru from vineyards such as Les Fuées and Les Baudes. It offers brambly red berry fruit on the nose, quite lively at the moment, something almost New World-like about it. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and brings us back to Burgundy: quite tensile in the mouth, not long and perhaps requiring more vivacity on the finish. However, these is good presence here, and it should offer up to a decade of drinking pleasure.
