Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The 2016 Meandro do Vale Meão is a blend of 30% Touriga Franca, 40% Touriga Nacional, 20% Tinta Roriz and various others, all aged for 14 months in used French oak. It comes in at 14% alcohol. Take a bottling that always performs well for a modest price, add a vintage that produced a lot of ripe fruit and you might get one of the finest Meandros ever made. Not quite bottled when seen (but the final blend), this shows exceptional concentration for the level, vivid fruit and surprising freshness. The tannins are moderate but provide good support for the fruit. Everything is lifted too—this is in no way a fruit bomb. The only remaining question is what this turns into. It should age well for this price range and improve.

Today, the varied terroir and climate across Portugal allows a great range of wines to be made each year, from the fresh and dry Vinho Verde wines to the famous and widely drunk fortified Port wines, and many in between.

Douro
The undisputed jewel in Portugal's crown is the beautiful wine region of Douro, located along the banks of the river from where it gets its name. The region itself is renowned around the world for its range of wonderfully aromatic fortified wines, as well as a wide variety of still red and white wines made from native grape varietals. Wineries in the Douro region utilize a huge amount of different local grapes for their characterful wines, but generally the most popular are made from Tinta Roriz, a rich and flavorful red wine grape related to Spain's flagship Tempranillo. However, there are plenty of different red and white grape varietals used in the region, all benefiting from the excellent hot weather and mineral rich terroir which characterizes the Douro valleys.

The second wine of Quinta do Vale Meão is named after the massive meander the Douro takes to almost surround the estate. It has much of the tannic structure and rich fruit of the first wine while being already more approachable. Red-berry flavors and ripe tannins are cut with acidity that will soften over the next year. Drink from 2021.
