Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Sandeman Madeira Rainwater is made in the traditional manner on the Atlantic island of Madeira, The rich soil and volcanic subsoil give this wine a unique character which is enhanced by the winemaking and ageing in «estufas». It is light in body but full in flavour, well balanced and a good accompaniment to many classic dishes such as soups and patés. It is also an essential ingredient in classic cuisine.
Tasting Notes: Medium light amber colour with pronounced golden highlights. Clean nutty aromas, very agreeable light complexity. Medium dry in flavour, nutty and slightly complex, with a good clean finish. Brilliant wine – a good quality young Madeira in evolution.
Sercial is a white grape variety primarily associated with Madeira wine, where it produces the driest and most acidic style of this renowned fortified wine. It thrives in high-altitude vineyards on the island of Madeira, where cooler temperatures help preserve its naturally high acidity and bright citrus-driven character.
What makes Sercial unique is its bone-dry, tangy profile, which sets it apart from the richer, sweeter styles of Madeira. Despite being fortified, Sercial Madeira undergoes extended oxidative aging, often through the canteiro method, where barrels mature in warm conditions for decades. This process develops complex flavors of bitter almonds, citrus zest, green apple, dried herbs, and toasted nuts, with a signature saline minerality.

The beautiful and sun-drenched island of Madeira, found off of the north west coast of Africa and which are part of Portugal, have long been the home to one of the world's most loved and widely drank fortified wines, named after the island itself. Madeira is a fascinating island, and one which played an important role in the discovery of the wider world, as it was a vital port between Europe and Africa, or the Americas to the west. The island has been producing wines since the 17th century, when the fortified wine it is famous for was first made, by adding grape spirits to still wines in order to stop it from turning bad on the long sea voyages. Today, the island still has a rich wine industry, helped by the almost tropical oceanic climate it enjoys, and the exceptional soils which support a wide range of grape varietals.
