Even the 2020 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza shows tertiary notes of forest floor, dry leaves, iodine and brick dust, with some notes of fountain pen ink and dark spices. It has a slightly astringent palate, with dusty tannins. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and moderate extraction and matured in used American oak barrels for 24 months, during which time it was racked every six months. I found a little more rusticity here this year. It comes in at 14.42% alcohol, with a pH of 3.52 and 6.05 grams of acidity. 80,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.

Leather, rose petal, and balsamic highlights define the 2019 Senorio De P. Pecina Crianza, which is a majority of Tempranillo with small additions of Garnacha and Graciano. Chewy tannins contribute tension to the otherwise rounded mouthfeel, finding an enduring elegance and medium-bodied feel. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was put in used American oak barrels for two years and another two in bottle, with no fining/filtering. This age-worthy wine should continue to shine through 2039.

Winery Notes

Colour: Cherry-red colour and slightly orange rim. Aromas: Intense aroma of ripe fruit, with hints of vanilla and toasted wood, with jam coming through underneath. Palate: Tasty, smooth, pleasant, spicy, very well-balanced and rounded.
