A superb champagne. This wine is produced from vines planted in clay soils in 1947 in the single vineyard called Pierre de Bellevue, located in Œuilly on the left bank of the Marne. The juice was fermented in cask without malolactic conversion and bottled in 2005. It was disgorged after thirteen years on the lees and finished without dosage. The end result is incredibly luxurious, with a baked apple aroma accented with rich notes of coffee and smoke. The texture is dense and velvety, yet it still has a crisp acidity leading to an incredible, lingering finish. This is a worthy prestige cuvée by any measure. Drinking now, this wine should continue to provide pleasure for another twenty years.
