Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

Alsace has to be one of the most fascinating regions of France, with a history which stretches back millennia, and demonstrates perfectly the kind of blended culture that can arise from being located on the border between two enormously important, yet very different countries. Indeed, being on the border between France and Germany has resulted in Alsatian wines being something of a mix between the wines of these two countries. Riesling varietal grapes are grown in enormous quantities here, and display all of their crisp, dry complexity perfectly in the famous wines of Alsace. Alongside this typically Germanic wine, Alsatian vintners also produce plenty of Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Sauvignon Vert wines, all of which are superb when it comes to expressing the finer features of the wonderful Alsatian terroir.

From the geological fault of Ribeauvillé and cultivated on limestone and sandstone, the 2017 Grand Cru Geisberg Riesling is from an old, south-facing steep and terraced 2.66-hectare cru of the Vignoble du Couvent du Ribeauvillé that Trimbach has cultivated for more than a decade now, with the first vintage produced in 2009 (released in 2015). The 2017 is pure and discreet yet substantial on the deep, mineral nose. Full-bodied, intense and saline on the palate, this is a rich yet precise, intense and elegant Geisberg from one of the smallest grand cru sites in Alsace. The low-yielding 2017 turns out as a classic here, with dense, clear, elegant fruit and an intense and sustainable mineral structure that keeps the tension and aging potential high. This concentrated Geisberg Riesling is lush but also crystalline and persistently saline, with fine tannins and a dense, finely bitter finish. This is an impressive, powerful, driving-forward Riesling that slowly starts to open up and will still develop and can be aged for up to two decades and even longer. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023.

Harmonious nose of white fruit, citrus, rose petals, ginger and mineral undertones. Steely on the mouth, showing tension and minerality and a complex long finish.
Winery Notes
The wine is intense and has a great energy. The color is bright-electric with silvery shimmers. Although the first approach on the nose is discreet with white flowers notes, the diesel-like minerality soon emerge with broad almost-oily shoulders to match it. A direct characteristic of the Geisberg parcel. On the palate, the attack is unctuous and ample with saline notes adding elegance to a very structured wine. A gastronomic wine able to age between 10 to 30 years in the top vintages.
