Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

A blend of 82% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Barossa Shiraz, Yalumba’s 2014 The Caley leans heavily toward Cabernet on the nose, boasting scents of mint, cassis and cocoa. In the mouth, the Shiraz helps round out the full-bodied palate and lends a velvety edge to the considerable tannins. This third vintage of Yalumba’s new flagship is the most approachable yet, finishing with plush richness, great concentration and admirable length.
Whilst most of Australia consists of arid deserts and dense bushland, the oceanic coasts to the south of the country have a terrain and climate ideal for vine cultivation and wine production. It took several decades of failed attempts at the end of the 18th century in order to produce vines of a decent enough quality for making wine, but since those first false starts, the Australian wine industry has continued to grow and grow. Today, wine production makes up for a considerable part of the Australian economy, with exports in recent years reaching unprecedented levels and even overtaking France for the first time ever. Whilst the greatest successes in regards to quality have been the result of the Syrah grape varietal (known locally as Shiraz), Australia utilizes several Old World grapes, and has had fantastic results from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Chardonnay and more. As the Australian passion for locally produced wine continues to develop, wineries have begun experimenting with a wider range of grape varietals, meaning that nowadays it isn't uncommon to find high quality Australian wines made from Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Viognier, amongst many others.

Limestone Coast
The Limestone Coast of South Australia is one of the country's most important wine producing regions, with almost one third of all Australian wines originating there. As the name suggests, this stretch of coastline is geologically significant, being made primarily of mineral rich limestone, and thus providing plenty of nutrients for the range of grape varietals that thrive there. Interestingly, unlike many of the wine regions of Australia, the Limestone Coast has a healthy water table, meaning there is plenty of moisture below the soil, and thus solving any problems relating to irrigation that causes difficulties for wineries elsewhere in the country. Plenty of different vines flourish in this fertile region, most notably Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, and also many white wine varietals such as Chardonnay and Viognier.

This is Yalumba's most premium wine, and it's easy to see why. It blends Coonawarra Cabernet with Barossa Shiraz for a classy, complex wine that could be drunk over the next few years with lengthy time in decanter, but will really blossom over the next decade or even two. Once exposed to oxygen, it starts to reveal a plethora of enticing aromas, from bushels of red and black fruits to dark chocolate and coffee beans; from iodine to dried mint and tobacco. The palate is big yet focused, seamlessly melding the forest fruit with the earthy, dried herbal notes and oak spice, all supported by powerful, leathery tannins. Drink 2021–2039.

The vision to create an apex thoroughbred version of Australia’s take on the claret style is shown here to have the recipe exactly right: 82% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon (from vines averaging 20 years of age) with 18% Barossa Shiraz (mostly from Eden Valley, with an average vine age of 41 years). Matured for 20 months in 40% new French barriques, with the rest in older French barriques, it has a grand posture and presence, with a triumphant swirl of black pepper, plus vine leaf, olive and cassis – and at 10 years, it's looking mighty in the glass. Bright, lively and complex, the flavours drive long and hard along a proud acid seam. The palate finishes crisp and taut, with hints of secondary tobacco and mocha notes just starting to peek through.

Just the third edition of this flagship Yalumba red blend, it has a wealth of dried violet and rose florals with blueberries, cassis and blackcurrants, as well as gently meaty, chalky and herbal notes. The palate is succulent with long, regal tannins, carrying plenty of flavor. A blend of 82% cabernet sauvignon and 18% shiraz. Drink or hold.
