Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The former Viviser comes now as Oberrhein Landwein named just Gutedel V. Sourced from a windy site that is picked the latest, the Gutedel, or Chasselas, 2021 V 21 was harvested in early November. The wine opens with just ripe and refreshing citric aromas intermingled with crushed limestone and flint. Silky, elegant and enormously fresh and savory on the palate, this is a lean but tight and tensioned Chasselas that was aged on the lees for almost two years. 9.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in February 2024.
Chasselas, also known as Gutedel in Germany and Fendant in Switzerland, is a white grape variety with a long history in Europe, particularly in Switzerland, France (notably in the Lake Geneva region), and Germany. It produces wines that are light-bodied, delicate, and often described as crisp and refreshing. Chasselas wines typically exhibit flavors of green apple, pear, and citrus fruits, along with subtle floral and mineral notes. They are characterized by their smooth texture and moderate acidity, making them easy to drink and suitable for a variety of occasions. What makes Chasselas unique is its versatility; it can be crafted into dry, off-dry, or slightly sweet wines, appealing to different preferences and culinary pairings. Chasselas wines are enjoyed as apéritifs, with seafood, salads, and cheese fondue, reflecting its cultural significance in Alpine regions where it thrives in cool climates and chalky soils.

As in many Old World countries, the rise of viticulture in Germany came about as a result of the Roman Empire, who saw the potential for vine cultivation in the vast flatlands around the base of the Rhine valley. Indeed, for over a thousand years, Germany's wine production levels were enormous, with much of the south of the country being used more or less exclusively for growing grapes. Over time, this diminished to make way for expanding cities and other types of industries, but Southern Germany remains very much an important wine region within Europe, with many beautifully balanced and flavorful German wines being prized by locals and international wine lovers alike. The hills around Baden-Baden and Mannheim are especially noteworthy, as these produce the high end of the characteristic semi-sweet white wines which couple so perfectly with German cheeses and pickled vegetables. However, all of Germany's wine producing regions have something special and unique to offer, and are a joy to explore and experience.

Winery Notes
Sustainable freshness and lightness paired with character. The name "Viviser" is an old name for the Gutedel. The Gutedel comes from the Swiss Vevey and the German name is Vivis, therefore it used to be Viviser. Notes of citrus and peach in the bouquet, not banal or one-dimensional. On the palate minerality, spice and citrus fruit. Noticeable, but well-integrated, ripe acidity that gives the wine its freshness. A characterful, prancing drinking wine that is not obtrusive and therefore the ideal companion for many occasions. Aging potential of at least six years.
