Rated 92 – It is made from a cépages of one-third each of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier and was finished non-dosé. The wine delivers a refined 123 aromatic constellation of white peach, apple, brioche, chalky minerality, a touch of vanillin oak and a gentle topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is brisk, full-bodied, focused and complex, with lovely mineral drive, elegant mousse, a serious spine of acidity and a long, precise and very nicely balanced finish. To my palate, this will need just a bit of cellaring time to further soften up its acids, as there is no buffering dosage. The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

The NV Champagne Premier Cru Extra Brut is equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, and although it is Extra Brut, it has zero grams per liter dosage. Rich aromas of custard, brioche, honeycomb, and lemon curd lift from the glass, and the palate is dry, although it has a rounded feel, with yellow plum, toast, chamomile, and salted citrus. Power and concentration drive the wine and are persistent through the finish. This has a nice autumnal feel that would be well served at the table.

Ripe fruit, floral and spice notes expand on the palate as they ride the raw silk–like mousse, showing juicy black cherry, lemon pith, charred whole-grain toast and raw almond, plus hints of white blossoms and nutmeg.
