Generous wood fights somewhat with the spicy, fresh and ripe black pinot fruit aromas that are trimmed in warm earth wisps. The wood also appears on the palate of the larger-scaled flavors that brim with sappy dry extract before terminating in a compact, firm, powerful and impressively long finish. This is definitely on the woody side and a wine that’s going to need time to better integrate the oak treatment.
