Ripe yellow peach, grainy pear, jasmine and pickled ginger notes burst from the glass of this vibrant blanc de blancs, carried on the finely detailed mousse. Shows lovely balance and integration, with bright acidity enmeshed with the expressive flavors and an underpinning of mineral and spices that echoes on the finish. Drink now through 2031.

Champagne Blend

The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. Their unique characteristics are partly due to the careful blending of a small number of selected grape varietals, most commonly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These grapes, blended in fairly equal quantities, give the wines of Champagne their wonderful flavors and aromas, with the Pinot Noir offering length and backbone, and the Chardonnay varietal giving its acidity and dry, biscuity nature. It isn't unusual to sometimes see Champagne labeled as 'blanc de blanc', meaning it is made using only Chardonnay varietal grapes, or 'blanc de noir', which is made solely with Pinot Noir.

Region

Champagne

The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

James Suckling

An aromatic wine with lemon pulp, stone fruit and subtle pastry on the nose. Medium-bodied and very silky on the palate, with round bubbles and graceful crisp acidity. Based on 2022. Disgorged April 2025. Drink now.

Light yellow-gold. Smoky citrus and orchard fruits on the deeply perfumed, mineral-tinged nose. Offers broad, toasty orange and pear skin flavors with an undercurrent of dusty minerals. Picks up floral and ginger nuances with air, along with hints of iodine and tarragon. Rich yet lively blanc de blancs with powerful back-end lift and finishing grip.

Crisp with a delicious line of acidity and ripe with apple and lemon flavors, this wine balances freshness with hints of maturity from aging in Ruinart’s subterranean cellars. It’s both taut with the tension of cool-climate Chardonnay and showing signs of toastiness.

Based on the 2022 vintage and incorporating 30% reserve wines—predominantly from 2021, with smaller contributions from 2020 and 2019—Ruinart’s newest NV Blanc de Blancs was disgorged in February 2025 with a dosage of six grams per liter. It unfurls from the glass with aromas of ripe pear, yellow apple, lemon oil and peach, mingling with early blooming white flowers. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, elegantly muscular and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit and ripe yet vibrant acidity. It stands in contrast to the 2021 base (disgorged in January 2024), which, shaped by its vintage, is more incisive, racy and fresh compared to the broader-shouldered, more textural 2022 base.
