Blackcurrant, milk chocolate and floral scents – lovely expression, alive and forward. Stylish and compelling, this hits the mark straight away, bold and tangy, with a sharpness to the fruit profile from high acidity. Tannins give a layered effect with detail and precision and you can feel the sculpting. Juicy and alive, there’s great energy and charm, upfront and forward, shining out of the glass. Generous and almost sweet but then straightens and tightens on the finish, giving a tongue scraping clean element with salty, minerality, liquorice and oak spice. The 2019 is more cool and classic, but this will appeal to all. Showcases the talent and hardwork done at the estate for the past 15 years.

A blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc, La Pointe 2020 is deep garnet-purple in color. It leaps from the glass with bright, vivacious notes of kirsch, black cherry compote, and black raspberries, followed by suggestions of cinnamon stick, red roses, and cardamom, with a touch of dusty soil. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of energetic, crunchy black and red fruits, framed by plush tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing with great length and a real skip in its step.

The 2020 La Pointe is quite pretty and soft. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, cedar, mint and pipe tobacco all grace this Pomerol, which impresses with grace more than power. Silky tannins add to its immediacy. Not a big wine, but it sure is a charmer.
