Very alluring, with linzer torte and plum cake notes pumping through, flecked liberally with anise and mesquite accents along the way. A nice red licorice strip adds contrast on the finish, with its sappy edge, while a roasted apple wood note holds everything together. Rock-solid. Best from 2023 through 2036. 2,100 cases made, 150 cases imported.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsaut, Vaccarèse and Muscardin. The 2020 integrates aromas of strawberry and blackberry compote, crème de cassis, raspberry jam, cloves, mint and hints of tobacco. Muscular and expressive, it is full-bodied and polished, enveloped in velvety tannins and kept in check by lively acidity. The finish is distinctively savory.
