The purple Malbec variety grapes which now grow all over the Old and New Worlds had their origins in France, where they are one of the few grape varieties allowed to be used in the highly esteemed blended wines of Bordeaux. The Malbec Estate from Kaiken is a faithful example of the varietal expression of the Mendoza terroir. It is an elegant, sensuous wine with ample fruit, a wide range of aromas, and just the right amount of influence from six months’ aging in French oak. Ruby red with violet highlights and extraordinary brightness pointing to its youth. Great fluidity and medium depth. Aromas of ripe dark fruits, such as plums and blackberries, stand out, joined by delicate notes of semisweet chocolate. A wine with big, round body and velvety tannins. A gentle, juicy, pleasant attack. A hint of dry flower petals on the palate.
