The red produced with young vines has a young profile. I'm talking about the 2023 Viñas Jóvenes, a village wine from Briones with 92% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano and 3% Garnacha. It fermented uncrushed in stainless steel and matured in 225- and 500-liter barrels for 14 months. It has ripeness, 14.5% alcohol and good balance through a pH of 3.5 and 5.3 grams of acidity and a medium- to full-bodied palate with abundant, fine tannins. 24,905 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2025.

Drawn from young vines, the 2023 Viñas Jóvenes (96% Tempranillo, 4% Graciano) spent one year in second-use oak. Its nose is defined by white pepper and a faint rosy spice, with fine oak well integrated and black fruit unfolding beneath. On the palate, it is dry and intense, showing a slightly enveloping flow and a clear, youthful fruit profile. The finish is clean and well defined.

Winery Notes

92% Tempranillo 8% Graciano from "El Rincon" a vineyard in the South of Briones, a small village in Rioja Alta; vines are between 10-20 years old. Grapes are hand harvested, handsorted and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Aged for 12 months in "second-use" 500L barrels that were previously used for the Reserva wines.
