Rapaura Springs Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2022
Rated 93 by Wine Spectator: New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs have become a go-to source for some of the most consistent expressions of terroir at affordable prices. In the hands of a talented winemaker such as Matt Thomson and a tradition of family-run farming by the founding Neylon and Wiffin families, Rapaura Springs pushes the limits of quality in this category to a new level. Grapes for this wine come from the Dillons Point and Wairau Valley subregions and are immediately pressed after harvest to minimize skin contact (and bitter phenolics). The juice is cool-fermented in stainless steel to preserve the fresh fruit flavors, and Thomson selects a variety of yeast strains to emphasize texture and complexity. Note the symbol on Rapaura Springs’ label: a circle of rocks that represents the spring in the estate vineyard. Charles & Charles Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Bolt’
Rated 92 by Wine Enthusiast: (2020) The Bolt is made predominantly with fruit from own-rooted vines growing at approximately 1,200 feet above sea level in the Goose Mountain block of Goose Ridge Ranch. It is graceful and balanced, with juicy acidity, sturdy tannic structure and restrained alcohol. With its aromas and flavors of Bing cherries, salted black licorice, orange blossoms, freshly cut grass and a savory note of pan-seared steak with fresh rosemary, this is a stunning value. Velenosi Lacrima Di Morro Querci Antica 2021
Rated 97 by Decanter: An intense nose of cherries, raspberry, and strawberries with an obvious floral, violet nose as expected from Lacrima. The palate is juicy, with well-integrated tannins and an intense note of rose petals and peppermint on the finish. (Platinum) – DWWA 2022
