January 2025 Staff Dinner
After an exhausting and successful holiday season, it was time to get together, eat some food, and open some wine. As usual, there was no real rhyme or reason to the bottles chosen. It’s fairly easy to tell who brought what: Chris and Nick are Francophiles, so naturally, the Bordeaux and Burgundy. Levi brought a fantastic old Altamura and a Finger Lakes dessert, Keely brought bubbles, and I filled in the high-octane Washington and Cali reds—lol.
Every bottle was excellent, barring the sadly turned PJ Grand Brut (which was old enough that it was not surprising). It was my first experience with both Next of Kyn and The Third Twin, and they both lived up to my expectations. The teenaged Altamura was fantastic, and considering the bottle was in bruised shape, we were all pleased. I loved the Roederer Rosé and the Keenan Cab Franc (as it was one of my first experiences in Napa, it holds a place in my heart)!
I have to give a huge shoutout to Saratoga Dry Aged Cuts in Ballston Lake, who ordered the meat specifically for me. They are always great, but they really outdid themselves with the ribeye, which made a tartare that stole the show!
All in all, it was great to get everyone together, away from the grind, for some good conversation and great wine. Can’t wait for next year!
