The sparkling wines of Champagne have been revered by wine drinkers for hundreds of years, and even today they maintain their reputation for excellence of flavor and character, and are consistently associated with quality, decadence, and a cause for celebration. Their unique characteristics are partly due to the careful blending of a small number of selected grape varietals, most commonly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. These grapes, blended in fairly equal quantities, give the wines of Champagne their wonderful flavors and aromas, with the Pinot Noir offering length and backbone, and the Chardonnay varietal giving its acidity and dry, biscuity nature. It isn't unusual to sometimes see Champagne labeled as 'blanc de blanc', meaning it is made using only Chardonnay varietal grapes, or 'blanc de noir', which is made solely with Pinot Noir.
France, often regarded as the heart of the wine world, boasts a rich history, diverse terroirs, and a captivating variety of grape varietals. From the renowned vineyards of Bordeaux to the picturesque landscapes of Burgundy, France offers a wine lover’s dream journey. Whether you’re new to the world of wine or a seasoned enthusiast looking […]
The beautiful rolling hillsides of the Champagne region of France have, for hundreds of years, been producing many of the world's most famous wines. The sparkling white wines to come out of Champagne's prestigious wineries have conquered the world, and are drank in celebration across the globe. The vast majority of the region is under vine, and grows predominantly Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varietals, which are usually blended together by master wine-makers in order to make their recognizable and widely loved produce. The north-easterly region of Champagne has a relatively cool climate, and quite a lot of rainfall, making it far from ideal for ripening grapes. However, the presence of heavily forested areas in the region helps maintain a balanced temperature, and the generations of expertise the wineries hold clearly produces excellent results in spite of the climatic problems.

Vinous Media
Light, bright orange. Vibrant, mineral-accented aromas of pomegranate, raspberry and tangerine, plus a suave note of smoky lees. Bitter rhubarb and cherry skin flavors give way to softer, sweeter raspberry in the mid-palate, with gentle minerality adding spine and lift. Packs a solid punch but comes off surprisingly lithe for its power. Finishes with excellent clarity, a subtle vanilla quality and strong mineral-driven persistence. In the context of top-drawer pink Champagne this bottling always delivers outstanding value.

This wine's barrel time is apparent in its structure, holding the red fruit tight. A note of sweetness points up the fruit, opening it to more generosity as it takes on air. This is spicy, cool and clean, a lovely rose with the structure to pair with a main course, like roast squab stuffed with grains and wild mushrooms.

Fruity and juicy, displaying red berries, blood oranges and some pastry. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity and creamy bubbles. Round and delicious. Drink or hold.
Winery Notes
The colour is a deep pink with delicate hints of purple. Very fine sparkle with an attractive ring of bubbles on the surface of the wine.
Initially intense on the nose. Ranging between fresh red fruit (especially cherry), pink grapefruit and mineral touches. The oak is subtle rather than obtrusive. This is a subtle nose that needs some swirling.
On the palate the wine has a beautiful base of acidity. It is lively from the attack right through to the finish. This is balanced out by vinosity and viscosity. The red fruit and biscuit notes remain all the way into the finish.
The finish is powerful, vinous and lingering, delicately saline and astringent.
