The white 2023 La Loma & Los Santos, containing some 60% Macabeo and 40% Garnacha Blanca, fermented in concrete and matured in 500- and 900-liter oak barrels, with some Macabeo in concrete egg, for 13 months. This has to be the finest vintage of this white; it’s a year with more tension and is very expressive and nuanced, with notes of dry yellow flowers and pollen. It is finessed, beautifully textured and velvety, with volume, sapidity and electricity, and it is crunchy and citrusy, with a salty twist in the finish. This should age nicely in bottle. 4,032 bottles were filled in July 2025.

From Alpartir in Aragón, the 2023 La Loma y Los Santos (Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo) opens with delicate, pure aromas of fennel and thyme. A citrus nuance adds tension to the rather austere yet finely detailed nose. Chalky textures and well-integrated freshness shape the dry palate without dominating it, allowing a subtle solar warmth to impart energy. The 2023 is expressive and balanced at 12.5% alcohol.

This has aromas of peaches, white flowers and a saline touch. The palate is harmonious, with a chiseled profile and linearity that follow through to a saline finish. A blend of macabeo and garnacha blanca from two vineyards. Fermented in cement and aged in Austrian and French oak. Drink or hold.

• Macabeo & Garnacha Blanca. • Macabeo from La Loma on clay-limestone at 500 meters, Garnacha Blanca from Los Santos on slate at 600 meters. • Crushed and macerated for 32 hours without sulfur before spontaneous fermentation in neutral demi-muid. • Racked to neutral 500L and 900L barrels for 12 months of elevage.
