There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. A subtle savory note adds dimension and charm. Approachable now with aeration or food, but will improve over the next couple of years. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Château de Camensac has a commendable, well-defined bouquet, classic Médoc style with black fruit and light gravel and tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm but fine tannins, fresh with a fine bead of acidity and a sapid finish. Good potential and a slight improvement from its barrel showing.

88-90 2023 Camensac has a floral nose and red fruits and flowers. The taste is juicy with a high toned and spicy element to it followed by a fine fresh aftertaste of viols and spices. This is a nice wine for medium term drinking.
