A blend of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2004 Doisy-Vedrines has 128 g/L of residual sugar. It is medium straw-gold in color and gives up delicate scents of truffles, baked peaches, and apple pie, giving way to notes of dried jasmine, beeswax, and chalk dust. The palate is quite savory in style, with soft-spoken fruit and plenty of freshness, finishing on a nutty note.

Tasted at the château, the 2004 Château Doisy-Védrines was one of the surprises of the vertical tasting. It has a delightful fresh bouquet with orange peel, honey, tinned apricot and crème brûlée aromas that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening, well-judged acidity and a vibrant, tensile finish that feels long and vivacious. Drinking beautifully now, the 2004 will last another 20 years with ease. This is a little gem from Olivier Castèja.

Winery Notes

Vivid, quite intense nose with a spicy savoury twist to the sweet expressive fruit. The sweet palate has a nice intensity, with butterscotch and caramel alongside the apricotty botrytis notes. Quite plump and lush.
