A blend of 85% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2008 Doisy-Vedrines has 145 g/L of residual sugar. It has a medium straw-gold color and notes of ginger tea, lemongrass, and fallen leaves gently waft from the glass, giving way to spicy notes of cinnamon stick, anise, and coriander seed. The palate is light on its feet, elegantly played and refreshing, finishing with a citrusy skip in its step.

Tasted at the château, the 2008 Château Doisy-Védrines does not have the same fruit intensity as the previous two vintages on the nose and comes across more resinous and understated. The palate is crisp and vibrant on the entry and goes some way in compensating for the aromatics. The acidity is very well judged and there is impressive tension on the finish: orange sorbet and quince fanning out in assured fashion. Enjoy this over the next 15 to 20 years.

Winery Notes

Vivid, quite intense nose with a spicy savoury twist to the sweet expressive fruit. The sweet palate has a nice intensity, with butterscotch and caramel alongside the apricotty botrytis notes. Quite plump and lush.
