Made from 60% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, and 5% Malbec, the 2018 Jean Faure is deep garnet-purple colored. It charges out of the gate with bullish notes of baked blackberries, boysenberry preserves, and chocolate-covered cherries, followed by hints of Indian spices, incense, charcuterie, and dried lavender. The medium-bodied palate has a solid frame of firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to support the generous fruit, finishing long and spicy.
