A beautiful nose of lemon rind, gooseberries and minerals. Very subtle meringue as well. Medium-bodied but quite chiseled, linear and zesty, with a saline twist following the minerally finish. 65.3% sauvignon blanc and 34.7% semillon. Drinkable now, but better from 2027.

A blend of 65.3% Sauvignon Blanc and 34.7% Sémillon, the 2023 Blanc from La Mission Haut-Brion has turned out superbly in bottle, revealing aromas of white peach, pear, flowers, confit citrus and fresh herbs. Medium- to full-bodied, seamless and fleshy, it is concentrated yet precise, built around a vibrant core of fruit and a beautifully controlled sense of power, concluding with a long, mineral and perfumed finish. Gaining both freshness and depth during élevage, this is one of the most vibrant and racy renditions of Mission Blanc in recent years.

The 2023 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc is a rare vintage here in which Sauvignon Blanc takes the lead in the blend. Even so, I am deeply impressed with the wine's textural density and pure power. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, chalk and tangerine oil all build in the glass.

It's medium to full-bodied, round, deep, and rich on the palate, yet has bright, racy acidity that keeps everything balanced and lively. This is a bigger, richer style that will evolve gracefully for two decades. Drink 2026-2045.
