The 2023 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is one of the most refined dry whites of the year. Soft, silky and nuanced, the Blanc has so much to offer. There’s a touch of reduction, but it works well here. Passion fruit, apricot, tangerine oil and a kiss of French oak lend an exotic flair. This is so distinctive.

White Bordeaux

France is widely known as being the home of many of the world's finest white wines, and within France, the name which rings out across the wine world and is always associated with excellence of quality and flavor is Bordeaux. The white wines of the magnificent Bordeaux region are typically blended, and rely on the winemaker's skill and expertise to achieve the fine balance between the primary grape varietals used. Most blended white Bordeaux wines are made up of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle varietals, although there are actually nine grapes officially allowed by French wine law for the inclusion in Bordeaux white wines. The other six are Sauvignon Gris, Merlot Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Ondenc and Mauzac, although the use of these other grapes has been in steady decline over the past century.

Exotic melon, honeyed orange, minty flowers, and spice all define the 2023 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc, a beautifully textured, layered, elegant white from this team. Based on 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Sémillon and aged eight months in 70% new French oak, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with integrated acidity and a great finish. This is a seriously impressive white that can be enjoyed any time over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2026-2040.

Dried apple and pineapple aromas with some lemon undertones. Full-bodied and phenolic, with dried fruit and lots of chewy tannins. Salty touch. Solid and rich for the vintage. A little old school. 95% sauvignon blanc and 5% semillon. Aged exclusively in barrel. Drink now.

90-91 2023 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc has a semi sweet, crunchy nose. The taste is fine and clean with some sweet elements and a rustic, dry finish. This is a good Larrivet Haut Brion and one that should benefit from 2 - 3 years of aging.
