The 2010 Phelan Segur is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Merlot. Deep garnet colored, it needs a little coaxing to bring out profound notes of creme de cassis, mocha, and crushed rocks, giving way to suggestions of black truffles, Sichuan pepper, and tobacco. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut with rich, muscular black fruits, supported by super-firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and decadent.
