A charming, satisfying wine that I’d happily drink, the 2023 Château Rauzan-Gassies offers up ample red and black fruits, plenty of background spicy oak, and cedary, sappy herb nuances on the nose. Based on 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot and aged 18 months in 55% new French oak, it’s medium-bodied and nicely balanced on the palate, with an elegant mouthfeel and supple tannins. Drink this complex effort over the coming 15 years or more. Drink 2026-2041.
