Long-term Pre-arrival Items
Long Term Pre-arrival Definition: Ordering wine directly through us from our supplier partners in Europe in advance of the item’s physical arrival in the US.
Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.
Rapid Ship
Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. Here, in the home of the world's finest wines, the type and quality of grapes used is of utmost importance, and the legendary wineries which work on the banks of the Gironde river have mastered the careful art of juice blending to find the perfect balance for their produce. Whilst there are six 'official' Bordeaux grapes, the two key varietals for almost every fine Bordeaux wine are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and with good reason. The 2006 Clos L'Eglise is deep garnet in color with a touch of brick. It is a little closed to begin, soon unfurling to reveal gorgeous notes of baked plums, kirsch, and cinnamon, with suggestions of dried roses, fallen leaves, and wild sage, plus a touch of crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is filled with rich, mineral-laced fruits, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long.

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then at the château, the 2006 Clos l'Eglise has an attractive, quite opulent bouquet with blueberry and crème de cassis aromas tinged with black truffle and violets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin, good acidity, grippy in the mouth and substantial weight on the finish. If it can evolve more finesse on the finish, this will be a very satisfying Pomerol, so afford it another 3-4 years in bottle. Tasted March 2016.

While the 2006 Clos L'Eglise was relatively closed aromatically, it offers a powerful, full-bodied style on the palate that certainly kept me coming back to the glass. With air, more chocolatey dark fruits, earth, and spice notes emerge from the glass. This classic, medium to full-bodied Pomerol has a terrific mid-palate, ripe tannins, and the balance to improve with another handful of years in the cellar and evolve gracefully for over a decade.

Blackberry, blueberry and flowers on the nose follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with well-integrated tannins. Shows cedar, coffee and berry flavors on the aftertaste. Subtle and refined. Should turn out very well with bottle age. Best after 2013. 2,500 cases made.

Clear cinnamon on the nose, followed by grilled saffron spice. This is impressive and gives a lovely sense of burrowing down through layers of black fruits. The tannins are barely yielding but they are neither bitter nor intrusive. Definitely ready to drink and will continue for another 10 years. Drinking Window 2016 - 2028.
