There are few regions in the world with stricter regulations in regards to wine production and grape varietals than those found in Bordeaux, France. As usual, the 2009 Clos Rene is well-made, but just doesn’t hit the top echelon. It reveals a dense plum/ruby color, lots of sweet black cherry and plum-like fruit, lush, heady, medium to full-bodied flavors, silky tannins, and a robust, exuberant, fat finish. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
