Long Term Pre-arrival sales ensure you’re getting the best possible price and that you have also secured the product before it hits the normal retail supply chain. The lead time for Pre-arrival goods is generally 4–8 months, sometimes longer based on supply chain and the logistics of transporting goods overseas. The expectation, from our team, is to communicate to the customer the location of their purchase every step of the way.
This product is offered as a full case purchase option, minimum order quantities may be applicable. When available, multiple case options will be presented. If you are purchasing a Pre-Arrival item you must order a solid case.

Items listed as "rapid ship" are in stock and available for immediate pickup or shipment. Those that do not have the "rapid ship" icon are housed with our supplier and must be transferred to our warehouse before they can be picked up or shipped. This requires 4-6 business days but usually occurs sooner. Some products will list both options of availability as there will be a certain number in stock, with the option to order additional bottles to be transferred from the supplier.

The name of this grape, meaning 'blood of Jove' conjures up evocative images of long dead civilizations, and gives the Sangiovese varietal a sense of the holy, the sacred, the special. Indeed, this particular type of Italian grape has been cultivated and processed for thousands of years, and is said to be the original favorite grape varietal of the Romans, and the Etruscans before them. Throughout history, vintners have continued to plant this varietal, and they continue to produce wonderful wines to this day. The long bunches of very dark, round fruit are treasured by fine wineries in Italy and a few other places around the world, and when young, these grapes are lively – full of strawberry flavors and a little spiciness. However, it is when they are aged in oak that they take on some truly special flavors and aromas, as seen in some of the finest wines of the Old World.

There are few countries in the world with a viticultural history as long or as illustrious as that claimed by Italy. Grapes were first being grown and cultivated on Italian soil several thousand years ago by the Greeks and the Pheonicians, who named Italy 'Oenotria' – the land of wines – so impressed were they with the climate and the suitability of the soil for wine production. Of course, it was the rise of the Roman Empire which had the most lasting influence on wine production in Italy, and their influence can still be felt today, as much of the riches of the empire came about through their enthusiasm for producing wines and exporting it to neighbouring countries. Since those times, a vast amount of Italian land has remained primarily for vine cultivation, and thousands of wineries can be found throughout the entire length and breadth of this beautiful country, drenched in Mediterranean sunshine and benefiting from the excellent fertile soils found there. It’s juicy and energetic with masses of sweet cherry and blackberries fleshing out across the palate, leaving a subtle layer of minerals and fine tannins adding a bit of a grippy feel. The 2016 is classically dry, yet not severely tannic, instead tapering off to a mix of sour citrus, red currants and hints of licorice. This may not be a Brunello for the ages, but it will provide a lot of enjoyment over the next five to ten years.

The 2016 Brunello is ripe with black and blue fruits, of plum, blackberry, vanilla, and crushed lavender aromatics. Fruit-forward and opulent in its ripeness, it is fleshy, round, and plush in its texture. These are wines with generosity and are perfect for early drinking and those seeking a polished modern style. Approachable now though, it will be wonderful over the next 8-10 years. 2021-2031.
Winery Notes
Meticulous selection and manual harvest of Sangiovese grapes from Collosorbo's best vineyards ultimately result in the Brunello di Montalcino, soft, rich and immediately enjoyable. The wine is a ruby red color with slight garnet hues resulting from four years of aging; the nose offers an intense and persistent perfume, with notes of red-fruit jam; on the palate the wine is smooth and velvety with evenly balanced tannins, intense and persistent with spicy notes and a hint of liquorice; harmonious and elegant on the whole.
