The 2022 Meursault Goutte d’Or 1er Cru is more backward and more austere than Boigelot’s Les Caillerets, yet there is more complexity and terroir expression locked in. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, understated for the vintage, yet exquisite balance, very nuanced with a judicious dab of ginger that enhances the finish. Poised and well crafted. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Of all the white wine grape varietals, surely the one that has spread the furthest and is most widely appreciated is Chardonnay.
